29er FAQ

Common questions about the solar system’s tallest mountains.

What is a 29er?

Any mountain in the solar system that rises at least ~29,000 ft base-to-summit — the height of Mount Everest. See What are 29ers?

Has anyone climbed one?

No. Recorded ascents across all 13 peaks: zero. The first ascents are unclaimed.

How are heights measured?

Base-to-peak, since most of these worlds have no sea level — that’s how Mauna Kea out-tops Everest.
